Chapel of Rest: 1990s death metal with elements of old school Metallica-type riffing, wrapped around sore throat vocals.
Best description of Chapel of Rest would be 'Jolly Spiffing Death Metal.'
With the Thrash scene dwindling in the early 1990s (thanks mainly to Metallica for wimping out) there needed to be a musical outlet for moshers who dismissed 3 chord grunge.
In Chapel of Rest, the complexity of thrash was maintained but grinding vocals progressed the sound to more of a death metal feel.
And isn't that what we all wanted, something decent to slam to!
Thrasher!
NEWS
Apr 3rd 2005: Bigger than big news, the Filthy One finally got in touch!
After a little research and a lot of luck I have just about enough info to finalize the Chapel story and provide a "Where are they now-Present" section - stay tuned, moshers!

Sep 15th 2004: Ok folks this is the big one ... Mike, the bassist emailed me!
He gave me a 'Chapel' update or, rather an update on the guys that were in 'Chapel' and reasons as to why the band split.
After more details emerge I'll publish the good stuff; thanks Mike Scibbly-Doo!

Jul 13th 2004: Rob Cary, the guy who played keyboards contacted me!
He expounded upon the England/Scotland Tour and even sent me live versions of 'Soul' and 'Solitude.' Thanks Rob!

Feb 4th 2004: Tobi from Germany informed me that Chapel of Rest appeared on the thanx list of the album,
"Turn Loose the Swans" by My Dying Bride. Thanks Tobi!
