Support groups are available for victims and survivors, as well as non-offending parents of child victims, to share like experiences and offer support to one another in a safe, confidential setting. Goals include education, empowerment, self-esteem building, problem solving, reduction of anxiety and stress resulting from victimization, and safety issues.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE & ABUSE - WOMEN'S GROUP** - This psychoeducational support group runs for 8 weeks, with 2 weeks off in-between sessions, and is available to women survivors of domestic violence/intimate partner violence. It is an open group (meaning that new members can join at any time) and focuses on building skills and understanding in areas such as: the dynamics of domestic violence, self-care and healing, building self-esteem, and assertiveness and boundaries. The group currently meets on Wednesday nights from 6:00-7:30 pm in a confidential location. Call (208) 882-2490 or (509) 332-0552 to set up an appointment for a screening interview.
SEXUAL ASSAULT & ABUSE - WOMEN'S GROUP** - This psychoeductional support group runs up to 4 times a year for 8 weeks and is available to women survivors of sexual assault/abuse/incest. It is a closed group (meaning that new members will not be accepted after the first group meeting of each session) and focuses on emotional support and skill-building in areas such as: assertiveness, boundaries, support systems, coping skills, fear, anger, flashbacks, guilt, healing, intimacy, trust, and more. The group currently meets on Tuesday nights from 6:00-7:30 pm in a confidential location. Call (509) 332-0552 to set up an appointment for a screening interview.
NON-OFFENDING PARENTS OF CHILD VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ABUSE - MALE & FEMALE PARENTS/GUARDIANS WELCOME** - This psychoeducational support group runs up to 4 times a year for 8 weeks and is available to male and female parents/guardians whose child(ren) has been victimized by sexual abuse. It is a closed group (meaning that new members will not be accepted after the first group meeting of each session) and focuses on skill-building and emotional support in areas such as: talking to your child about sexual abuse, safety planning with your child, emotional responses to sexual abuse and coping mechanisms, self-blame and healing the parent-child relationship. **Child Advocates are available during all groups to interact with members' children.
