Fame

Jupiter

Now you have gone away
I remember the mystery

How I thought
I might die of your touch
but I could never get enough

How your opinion mattered most
how I thrilled to have your trust

Those mattered more than Fame
But the magic fades
when hearts forget

how changed we were
joined by the mystery in our eyes

Searching for Fame
we looked away and forgot

Like shadows slipping
through dark water

we watched eachother fade
Till the old forms were gone

How could we trust the old waters
when the river changed?

I return there often
and look out on that water

but the current took you away
I cannot recognize
the contours of the land

A part of me looks out confused
when blossoms grace the trees

and remembers back
to when our names were written
on the water in the leaves
