CHERRY FREEZE

16-ounce package frozen pitted dark sweet cherries, about 4 cups
4 tbsp powdered sugar
2/3 cup half-and-half
1/2 tsp almond extract
1/2 tsp vanilla extract or cherry flavoring

Finely chop cherries in food processor. Use feed tube to add sugar, 1 tbsp at a time. Add rest of ingredients and process until well blended. Stop machine to scrape sides of bowl as needed.

Pour mixture into freezer container. Place a piece of plastic wrap directly on surface of mixture. Freeze for 1 1/2 hours or more, until consistency of ice cream. Makes about 6 1/2-cup servings.
